Well, here we are,......tearing up the coast of South Africa between Durban and Capetown, following the coast in a really punchy Toyota Yaris......Have to say, I was really impressed with the punchy 1.3 L ...don't laugh.
Guy managed to stave off Sinusitus and fly with out bursting blood vessels.....alright....
So to begin:
JOBURG:
We flew in, Rob picked us up and we headed to shoestrings lodge...pretty cool place close to the airport....had a few castles, which is better than VB.....(No we haven't switched sides, just being objective).... and crashed out after being awake for 24 hours or so....
Soweto:
We headed to Soweto, had some wicked tour guides, would definitely recommend the tours. The hostel just sorted it out for us, so we can't remember the tour companies name.... just watch out for protests....even our guide was a little edgy....

Durban
Arrived to have Lauren pick Mark and I up....what a champion! Lauren may be offering tour guide services for aussies from now on....will keep you posted.... ;p
We stayed with Devon the dude (one of Will's mates in Durban at the Vida apartment), we hit up the wave pool, shark's board (they dissect sharks and explain how the beasts work.....cool stuff), Ushaka Sea World (Lauren woosed out on the big ones....shame. Saw some cool things at the aquarium...)
Nightlife......facebook has evidence of the mayhem and carnage caused for Thursday night We were out with Lauren's crew and Adam (Lauren's Boyfriend), what a great bunch of kids!
Friday night, well hats off to Durban! Hervey's and all the cool kids we met..... Giving a rough run through.....
Dangerous Dave - The cabbie from hell! Must be the luckiest man alive, he was questioned by the cops, driving a car with the alarm going (sparkles sorted out the immobiliser....mum, did you know he could do this?) and one headlight...... oh and the cops took dave's first car, so he "borrowed another" the mix tape was gold!
Devon, Ryan (sorted us out with t-shirts at Hervey's - Thanks champ! Usually it's shirts only), Scott (Mr red bull - Durban) and Kate (if you need a mortgage, she's the girl for you!)
Will never forget the macca's carpark incident....Scott, make sure you get that 1/4 pounder refunded, although to be fair, you should only be entitled to half a refund since you'd eaten half.... it's only fair mate.
Safe to say, one of the loosest nights either of us have had! Great times had! You kids better fulfill promises to come to oz, as we have much to repay!
Drive to East London
Try not to rent a car through an agent, do it at the airport (2 hours later - Thanks AVIS!) Hence we only made it to East London. We took the long route through the Transgye. Watch out for goats, cows, Pumba, horses, monkey's and people. but boy oh boy, the scenery is breathtaking!
Don't stay at the b&b in East London we did, the mid 20s bloke who ran the B&B , was trying to get us to head out to the "boom boom" music club (also a gay club), Mark was moved 3 times to different rooms as a result of other room holders looking to bring strippers home...Classic! So needless to say we slept, skipped breakkie and headed off further down the coast....
East London to Capetown
Stopped off at Storm's river mouth! What a breathtaking national park! you can get a tire tube and float down the river, scuba dive on the reef or snorkle.. but alas time was not on our side.

Jeffries bay was also on route, had a massive breakkie! We then had a lot of ground to cover checking out gorgeous Knysna, we hauled ass to Cape
Town to "Penthouse on Long". Awesome backpackers!
Road rules are just guidelines in South Africa. 140 km/h in a 120 km/h zone is acceptable, with most people doing closer to 180km/h! This is not an autobahn! No animals were hurt along the way, guys were in the back of panelvans dishing out thumbs up, whilst trying to hold the door shut as the taxi was full!
We're off to Cape Point today with "Big Willie style Dutton", looking forward to seeing Storm's (Will's wife) baby bump, Storm, Grant, Debs and hanging with Rob and the vida lads....
Til next time.....Keep in touch, we'll keep on cruisin' in SA....
Much Love,
Guy and Mark
